Iron Oxide (Black) Fe3O4
Why Buy From Us?
This is extremely fine powder and is shipped in bottles with Child-Resistant lids. Iron Oxide (black) is the oldest known magnetic substance, also called magnetite when it occurs in nature (iron(II,III) oxide Fe3O4). Iron Oxide is ferrimagnetic; it is attracted to a magnet and can be magnetized to become a permanent magnet itself. It is the most magnetic of all the naturally-occurring minerals on Earth. Naturally-magnetized pieces of magnetite, called lodestone, will attract small pieces of iron, which is how ancient peoples first discovered the property of magnetism.
It's used as a pigment, a component of magnetic "slime" or putty, inks, and is the high-temperature oxidizer used in thermite reactions.
Iron Oxide (Fe3O4) is not generally considered hazardous, but please find attached Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) that you may download and use freely.
