Nite GlowRing - Safety Marker - Tritium - (Clear Case) - 9 Colours
Why Buy From Us?
PLEASE NOTE: THE PRODUCT PHOTOS ARE FROM AN ANDROID PHONE (ONEPLUS 5T) AND ARE UNALTERED. HOWEVER, THE CAMERA SEEMS TO PICK UP THE LIGHT BETTER THAN THE HUMAN EYE - THE GLOW RING MAY APPEAR A BIT LESS BRIGHT TO YOUR EYES THAN WHAT APPEARS IN THE PHOTOS.
We are also using some long-exposure / time-lapse photos with permission from one of our customers, Dalton Herrewynen, a professional photographer. Check out more of his beautiful work here.
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO A CHANGE BY THE MANUFACTURER THE PACKAGING YOU RECEIVE MAY BE A PLASTIC SLEEVE INSTEAD OF THE PLASTIC BOX PICTURED. THE PRODUCT ITSELF IS COMPLETELY UNCHANGED.
Tritium is a radioactive form, or “isotope", of hydrogen. It has two neutrons where regular hydrogen does not have any, which makes tritium unstable and therefore radioactive. It is produced naturally from interactions of cosmic rays with gases in the upper atmosphere.

The Nite GlowRing: WHAT ARE THEY?
At the heart of every GlowRing is a Swiss Trigalight™ capable of powering its light output for many years. The outer casing of the GlowRing is transparent polycarbonate. The GlowRing requires NO batteries, neither does it need charging from sunlight or any other light source before it will work, its power supply is completely self-contained.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
The Trigalight™ is a gas tritium light source or GTLS composed of a laser sealed borosilicate glass tube filled with a small amount of tritium gas and with its inner surfaces coated with particular phosphors. As the tritium decays its nuclei emit beta particles that strike the tube’s phosphor coating causing the Trigalight™ to emit visible light. By varying the type and combination of phosphors used it is possible to create Trigalights™ which emit different colours.
Tritium has a half-life of a little over 12 years so, as long as the glass core is not damaged, the Nite GlowRing will emit light for many years.
How safe is a Trigalight™?
As the electrons produced by the gaseous tritium are so low in energy, they are unable to breach a sheet of paper or penetrate human skin. Based on our own measurements using Geiger Counters, it seems that holding the keychain directly in your hand for one hour is roughly equal to eating between 4 and 7 bananas, in terms of extra radiation exposure.

WHAT COLOURS ARE THERE & HOW BRIGHT ARE THEY?
This is a list of the colours we can supply (subject to availability) and an explanation of the perceived brightness:
Green
Yellow
White
Orange
Ice Blue
Red
Pink
Purple
UV Blue
Do all of the colours available appear to be the same brightness?
The simple answer is NO they do not. The human eye is more sensitive to some colours than to others; so with the GlowRings there is quite a big difference between how you will perceive the colours to which the eye is most sensitive and to which the eye is least sensitive.
So; which GlowRing will look the brightest, and which the dimmest?
By far the most radiant looking GlowRing is the Green and the faintest the UV Blue. For comparison, you will likely see UV Blue to be only about 15% as bright as the Green, and you will see Yellow to be about 80% as bright as the Green. The important thing is: if the brightness IS important then you should select Green or Yellow!
What kind of illumination can I expect?
The manufacturer designed GlowRings as an aid to finding items in dimly lit situations, such as keys, luggage and anything else you desire. The GlowRings are not going to light up the room or give you something that you can use to read a book at night.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS?
The Trigalight™ at the heart of the GlowRing is a laser sealed borosilicate tube 22.5mm tall and 3mm diameter (approximately 0.89 inches tall and 0.12 inches diameter)
The transparent polycarbonate GlowRing housing the Trigalight™ is hexagonally shaped and is about 48mm tall and 10mm across flats of the hexagon (approximately 1.89 inches tall and 0.39 inches across flats).
The ring is a strong stainless steel split ring with an outer diameter of approximately 20mm (0.79 inches).
Can a Nite GlowRing be Damaged or stop glowing?
Yes, a Nite GlowRing can be damaged and so will stop shining. Although quite durable the Nite GlowRing is NOT indestructible the inner borosilicate glass tritium lamp can break and if this happens it will stop glowing. So please understand that if you break the light, we will NOT give you a refund or replacement. The glass tritium lamp inside can be broken if dropped onto a hard surface or if the GlowRing receives a hard blow. The outer polycarbonate case of the GlowRing is tough and may not show signs of damage even if the inner TrigaLight is broken.
